The attendance registry opens from the course builder: Attendance (Progress in on-demand courses). It tells you who was in the room, who was late, who caught up with the recording, who was excused or absent.
Students in the left panel
In the left panel you find, from the top:
- the course numbers: Students, lectures Held out of the total and the Class attendance;
- the Search students box (by name or email);
- Whole class, with the average attendance;
- one row per student with the attendance bar: green in the room, amber late, blue from the recording, purple excused, red absent, grey not recorded. The percentage is on the right.
The list scrolls inside the panel: the numbers always stay in view.
The detail
All the space on the right belongs to the detail. Above it are Chapters and Subjects (how lectures are grouped), the colour legend and the class attendance (Class 76%).
- Whole class: class attendance, lectures held and upcoming, the radar by subject and the list of lectures. Each lecture takes one row: date and time, present out of expected (12/16), the bar and the percentage. Click the row to open the room inspector.
- One student: pick their name on the left. On the right you get their attendance broken down by status, the radar compared with the class (dashed line), the assessments and, for every lecture held, the roll call (P, L, R, E, A) to correct the status by hand.
In the radar, subject names too long for the space are shortened with "…": the full name shows when you hover the label or tap the chart.
Late joiners
With open enrollment a student can join after the edition has started. The registry uses their enrollment date in the edition (for older enrollments, the date they were added to the course):
- lessons held before they enrolled are Before enrollment (light grey): they are not absences and don't count towards attendance, neither in the registry nor for the certificate;
- they can catch them up by watching the recording past the course threshold: the lesson becomes Recording (caught up) like for everyone, and counts towards attendance; for these lessons the catch-up deadline (Within in the course attendance settings, 14 days by default) starts from the enrollment date, not from the lesson;
- recordings and materials of past lessons are visible straight away, like for the other students.
In the student's detail, under the bar, there is the summary N lessons before enrollment · M caught up; the student sees the same on the course page. In the bar tooltip lessons before enrollment are counted separately (not counted).
Past lessons must be caught up
In the builder, under the edition's dates (Cycles), the Past lessons must be caught up option (off by default). When it's on, lessons before the enrollment count towards attendance:
- they start as To catch up (orange) and weigh like lessons not yet attended;
- they become Recording (caught up) if the student watches the recording before the deadline, which starts from the enrollment date;
- when the deadline passes they become Absent.
An example: enrollment on 1 October, catch up within 14 days. The 15 September lesson can be caught up until 15 October; without the option, if they don't watch it it stays Before enrollment and doesn't weigh. A presence or excuse marked by hand always wins.
On phone and tablet
Below 1024 px of width there is no left panel and the page stacks: the numbers at the top, then the student list in a compact box that scrolls on its own, then the detail at full width. Tap a student and the page scrolls to their detail; Whole class goes back to the class.
Lecture rows take two lines: title, date and time on top, present count, bar and percentage below.
