What each meter counts
What makes each row of the Usage page go up, with an example, and which workspace it counts for.
Every use counts for one workspace only: the one the action happens for. In short: what you do inside the academy counts for the academy, what you do in your personal workspace counts for the personal one. Meter by meter:
AI credits
What counts. Every ARIA answer and every AI feature (generating a course, a book, an image, a conversation title). Credits depend on the length of the question and answer and on the model: about 1 credit per 1,000 words read, more for written text; an image is worth 25 or 100 credits.
Example. In Accademia Leonardo the Owner asks ARIA "Reply only with the word OK": the AI credits row goes from 0 to about 45 in under 5 seconds (most of it is the context ARIA reads, not the answer).
Workspace. The active workspace of whoever asks: inside the academy, the academy; in the personal workspace, the personal one.
When it goes up. Right away, when the answer ends.
Emails
What counts. Emails sent on behalf of the workspace: invitations (academy, spaces, courses, calendars, events, subjects, libraries), course purchase links, "recording ready" emails to lecture participants. Aladia system emails (sign-in codes, passwords, invoices, trial, payments) do not count.
Example. You invite someone into the academy as a Viewer: one email goes out and the academy's Emails row goes up by 1.
Workspace. The academy the invitation is sent for, even when a person sends it. An invitation from your personal workspace counts there.
When it goes up. As soon as the sending service accepts the email, usually within seconds.
Live minutes
What counts. Participant minutes of live rooms (lectures, events, instant rooms, chat SyncUps, subject rooms): for each person, the time spent in the room, added up. A one-hour lecture with 25 students and one teacher makes 1,560 minutes.
Example. The Owner opens an instant room, stays 70 seconds and leaves: when the room closes the Live minutes row goes up by about 1.2 minutes.
Workspace. For lectures and events, the event owner (the academy for academy courses). For instant rooms and SyncUps, the active workspace of whoever opens the room.
When it goes up. When the room closes: a few seconds after the last person leaves (or only guests are left), never during the live.
Recordings
What counts. Recorded hours of live rooms, transcript and summary included.
Example. A 30-minute recorded SyncUp counts half an hour.
Workspace. The same as the live minutes of the recorded room.
When it goes up. When the recording is ready (after processing, usually a few minutes after the end).
Storage
What counts. The GB taken by the workspace's files: videos, recordings, attachments, covers. It is not a sum: it is how much space is taken right now, and deleting a file brings it down.
Example. You upload a 2 GB video to a lecture: the next day the Storage row shows 2 GB more.
Workspace. The owner of the files (the academy for academy content).
When it goes up. Once a day, at night: a file uploaded today shows in tomorrow morning's measurement.
Video bandwidth
Bandwidth (GB of video watched) is in the plan list but is not measured yet. The Usage page does not show it and nothing is stopped on this meter until the measurement is live.
Test run of 30/09
The test run on app.aladia.io (spec billing/usage-real) found two uses counted on the wrong workspace and a nightly measurement that did not run. All three were fixed the same day:
- academy invitations counted in the personal workspace of whoever sent them;
- instant rooms and SyncUps counted in the personal workspace of whoever opened them;
- the nightly storage measurement failed, so storage stayed at 0.
Below, the Usage page of the same Owner's personal workspace on 30/09, with the invitation emails and the instant room minute that landed there before the fix (those uses stay where they were recorded):
